Små Juveler

There will be some rather lazy posts around here for a few weeks, as I've got four exams coming up before Christmas, but I'll keep posting little things I find and enjoy from around the web. Today, I found these little gems from Topshop. Do want!

Everybody Put Your Glasses Up

Scorpio brooch by Giorgio Armani, SS2011

This post is rather short and self-sentric, as I'm currently busy celebrating the birth of somebody rather important to me; myself.

God, I'm getting old.

Pure

Clockwise from top: Calvin Klein / Emporio Armani / Michael Kors / Valentino / Chloé

I still want a small, boxy handbag, but after seeing these, I really want one in white. Perhaps not very practical, but who cares? I have a feeling the Chloé bag (furthest to the left) is going to be everywhere come spring.

Clutching My Pearls

These are clutches. As in handbags. I know, right? And they are obviously awesome, gorgeous, stunning, do want! Jen Kao SS2011, via style.com.

Beetle vs Scarab

Not really sure why I like bug rings so much, as I normally find bugs kind of creepy. Nothing creepy about these rings; in fact, they're quite gorgeous.

Space Invaders

Yes, it's more Lanvin.

Zara, I Hate You

And I only hate you 'cause I love you. See, I was really excited when Zara opened up an online store, and almost heartbroken when I realized they're not shipping to Norway. I know we're just a tiny country, but we love online shopping! At least I do!

It's almost painful to browse their site, because there are just so many items that would go perfectly with everything else in my closet. Like these tiny, shiny bags. Fortunately, I bought one of them when in Barcelona this summer, but I've come to realize that I really need a red one as well.

And The Diamonds

Last spring there were tigers and snakes. This spring, oversized flies, moths, butterflies and flowers adorn the looks in the Lanvin collection. Were insects ever this beautiful?

The New Clutches

DSquared2 / Versus

Alexander Wang / Bottega Veneta

Fendi / 3.1 Philip Lim

Derek Lam / Jason Wu

Tommy Hilfiger / 3.1 Philip Lim

Fendi / Emporio Armani

Tommy Hilfiger / Proenza Schouler

Reed Krakoff / Versace

Fashion month so far has mostly been full of things I don't care for. I like the occational show, but some of the themes I've noticed are just not my style. First of all, there is way too much white. I've started wearing some white the past year, but that doesn't mean I'm forgetting the rest of the colour wheel. Second, everything feels tainted by the seventies or the nineties; two decades I can't stand, fashion-wise. And on top of this most of the wonderfully crazy footwear is gone.

At least everybody seems to agree that quirky little handbags are here to stay.

Hip To Be Square

Alexander Wang bag at Opening Ceremony.

I've already moved on from slouchy, big purses, but the bags I'm carrying at the moment aren't quite as nice and boxy as this one. Do want!

Heads Up

Pretty much everybody loved the main SS 2010 Alexander McQueen campaign, but I'm thinking this might be even better than Raquel Zimmermann covered in snakes. I've never been particularily fond of skulls, but they are such a big part of the McQueen brand that using skulls for advertising eyewear feels completely natural. And awesome.

It Came From Outer Space

If the new Raphael Young collection was shoes from outer space, this is the kind of jewelry you'd want to pair them with. These enormous necklaces come from London based designer Carianne Moore. I find them very gorgeous, but slightly intimidating. It's as if they're miniatures of the spaceships of some terrible alien race that would destroy Earth if they ever came across it. (I've been re-reading the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy lately, can you tell?) This doesn't stop me from loving them, though.

Jabberwocky!

I haven't seen the new Alice in Wonderland movie yet, even though I normally love Tim Burton, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and the Lewis Carroll book. And none of the movie related merchandise has won me over before now. Then I found these handcrafted rings by H.Stern in partnership with Disney. These amazing sculptures need to be on my fingers as soon as possible.

One Ring

One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them,
One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.

Shady

Jil Sander / Balenciaga

Nope, not done with the fall accessory report yet. And there are more interesting things to report than shoes.

While pale colours and flower motifs are all over the trends of spring, these bags rely on interesting shapes and textures to prove their brilliance. In shades going from grey to dark grey to black they're not even close to becoming boring. I wouldn't mind seeing the Jil Sander Manga Madame bag everywhere, as I know I certainly won't be able to afford it. The Givenchy Eve bag below is another favourite.
