Everybody wants to be rich, right? Well, I want to be rich so I can afford a mansion with a huge, slightly spooky, slightly gothic library filled with all the books I've ever read. As much as I love fashion, reading is my favourite pasttime. I've always been an avid reader, and everybody, including myself, were certain I'd end up as an author. Perhaps I will some day, but for now I'll just keep reading, and dreaming of a library like the ones above.

Tonight's Gonna Be a Good Night

Today I turn one quarter of a century old (ancient, I know...), and it's a Saturday, and it's the annual Christmas party at work.

All of this means I've got a busy Saturday full of cake, gifts, drinking and dancing. Right now I'm listening to awfully catchy pop music, doing my nails, and generally having a great time.

Comfort and Practicality

Not the kind of shoes you expect to see posted on this blog, you say? Nothing about them is heavy, and the heel isn't anything to write home about, but these are the shoes I wear almost every day. As boring as it gets, but I need some cushioned, lightweight and airy shoes for work.

Some days I wish I had a more normal job, sitting in a cubicle and wearing towering heels that wouldn't hurt my feet because I wouldn't be on my feet all day long. I guess for now I'll have to be satisfied with a job that pays the bills while keeping me thin, strong and active, and use this blog as an outlet when it comes to fashion.

Speaking of the blog; I'd like to use this post to congratulate myself. Somehow I've made it past the great milestone of 100 blog posts, and almost without noticing. I've been blogging regularely for a little more than 5 months now, which is quite a feat for a scatterbrained person such as myself. Now, let's see if I can keep up with regular posting during the busy sommer months ahead!

Crete!

Today was rainy, but sunshine is on my mind, as I just paid for a trip to Crete in July for my best friend and I. Mentally, I've started packing my bag already. Prepare yourself for more bikini posts!

Shady

My last pairs of sunglasses have all come from H&M, and they've all looked more or less the same. When the aviator style became really popular a few years ago I was relieved, because the style fit the shape of my head pretty well. Since then I've kept buying and wearing cheap aviators, and it's getting a bit boring, but i just can't seem to find anything else that suits me well.

This year I'd like an upgrade, or some kind of change. The blue Club Monaco ones above would be perfect, but they aren't available online, as far as I can tell. Fortunately, aviators are found everywhere, and I'm becoming particularily attached to the Gucci's below.

Mmm, summer shopping!

Mmm, Electronics!

As girly as I am, I also like gadgets and shiny electronics. Here are a few things I'd need to actually save up for before buying. I thought it might be a good idea to do a post like this to remind myself that I don't have to spend every single cent of my paycheck each month, and if I don't, I'll be able to afford shinies like the ones below.

1. Canon EOS 450D, or similar.

My current camera is ok, but I want something great. I've also discovered that my camera lacks an auto feature, so outfit posts (yes, I've been intending to do some of those) will probably be limited to mirror shots for now. I hate mirror shots.

2. External hard drive.

My recent history of computer crashes really made me realize how valuable back-up is. I still haven't gotten my dear laptop back from service, and I'll only be able to borrow the one I've got at the moment for another two weeks...

3. iPhone, or other touch-screen phone.

I just realized my current phone is one and a half years old, and while that doesn't mean I need a new one, I certainly want one. I've never really owned a fancy cell phone, and I'd probably crack the screen the first week if I were to get one, but the desire is there.

Shopping List Summer 09

So, somebody received a big package with summer shoes yesterday, and I can't wait to start wearing the new heels. I'll be posting pictures of that purchase later this weekend; right now I'm mentally planning my summer shopping and playing around with polyvore.

Things I've convinced myself I "need" for sommer include smashing swimwear, easy-to-wear but dangerous looking wedges, floral summer dress (I'm thinking something similar in feel and colours to the current Gucci campaign), statement jacket, denim shorts, girly shorts.

While I've no intention of buying all this at net-a-porter or brownsfashion, a girl can dream, right? And I fully intend to splurge on a pair of Marnis or that Zimmermann swimsuit when I'm able to make up my mind about which is the better buy.

Nostalgia

I don't remember much from when I was very little, but when I rediscover certain items, the memories all come back. I remember this book, a Norwegian version of Sleeping Beauty, and how I was utterly fascinated by how gorgeous everybody inside it looked.



I'm pretty sure this is what you can call my first fashion fascination. I loved all the pretty dresses and the colours, and I probably spent too much time trying to replicate the looks on my Barbie dolls.

The Littlest Things

Quick picture post today. I'm posting some recent purchases, because I've no time writing up a real entry.

I love shopping, I'm such a materialistic person. Even the smallest purchases makes me happy.



What I'd buy right now if I were loaded? A nice camera. You'll just have to live with the low quality of the following pictures; I haven't even had the time to fix them up with a photo editor...



The two above were on sale, and a little too big for me. They're going to serve as my first blank canvases for DIY-ing.



For me? How nice!



Sea of studs! My first DIY project will be the dark grey blazer vest. I've no idea how long that'll take, but combined with other real life events, I'm thinking my posting frequency will be slowed down a bit for the following weeks.

Now, I don't know if I'm even going to attempt to recreate something like this, but at least I've got the means to try.

What's Next?

The March issues of various magazines are out already, but I'd like to post a few snaps from the February edition of Harper's Bazaar US. Both US and UK versions of the magazine have had some nice issues with great editorials lately. This one is shot by Karl Lagerfeld. Click here for more and bigger images.

The editorial is called What's Next, and that's sort of what I'm wondering myself. Warning: Personal rambling ahead; please stop reading if you're only here for the eye candy.



I've been unemployed all January, have been working three days a week in February, and the second week of March I'll be moving to a different place to work a full time job.

This will probably affect my ability to blog as often as I am right now. The whole blog started as a way of filling my day with something creative, and working a full time job will cut down the time I've got to mindlessly browse the internet fashion world for news. I might even find myself completely cut off from the internet for a few weeks, which would be extremely hard for a girl like me.

So far I've been aiming for six entries a week. Enough to push myself to write a little almost every day, but not too much, so I don't get bored with blogging. I'm writing in English instead of Norwegian because it feels more natural, and because I need to practice writing in another language.

I guess I'll just have to see how things turn out. So far I've noticed that writing has become easier than when I first started, and that's a good sign.



Now, more work means more money, which is very much needed if I want new shoes and clothes (and other little details, like food). Today I got paid for a little work I did back in December, and that money went straight to an order on studsandspikes.com. I'm very good at talking about all the DIY projects I want to try, but now I'll have the means to actually try studding clothes. I can't wait!
