Sonnet 43
I realize I use the word "love" a lot when I talk about clothes and shoes, and I won't stop today. I love Gareth Pugh. And I love this collection. Obviously this is not the same love that is used to describe relationships between people, but it's still rather strong.
Why it's taken me so long to talk about this collection, I'm not sure. I think it is my favourite from the Spring/Summer 2010 batch. At the moment we're only 22 days away from the next fashion week, but I haven't yet seen any hint of spring weather, so it feels a bit weird to shift focus to next fall already.
So, Gareth Pugh. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love the colour scheme used (if you can call the different shades of grey colours). I love the pants with their slits. What begins as a normal jacket, but turns into a cape below the waist. The fingerless gloves. The zippers.
I love the totally weird bracelet-slash-ring. The dirty metallic nails.
(I do not love those weird headbands, but without those,) I love the hairstyle.
But above all, I love the shoes.

Wait, What?
I don't think I'll ever be completely done with the Accessory Report, there's always something interesting to point out. This time around I dug up some oddities among all the great design. Here's a small dose of ugly and weird, to balance all the pretty things I normally try to post.
Chanel / Miu Miu
The seventies are back! I'm a bit torn on this one. While I don't like the style of most of the clogs from Chanel this season, this platform pump has got my attention. I think both these styles are on the verge of being quite trashy, but the right person could really rock them.
Maria Francesca Pepe.
Next up is some seriously impractical jewelry. I've already mentioned my love for weird jewelry, but this is just no good. From Maria Francesca Pepe comes one dumb ring that will never sit right on your finger and one gonna-cut-your-skin-and-make-you-bleed bracelet. Ouch.
Fendi
Fendi tapestry bags. One of those words do not belong with the two others. I honestly thought this was a joke at first, and I still hope it might be. How much can you expect somebody to pay for one of these?
Another thing that bothers me about the SS10 accessories is the vast amount of tassels and suede fringes. I feel like I'll have to give up hating these, because they're everywhere, and I just can't get their appeal.
I'd also like to mention that Louis Vuitton is currently dead to me. That is all.

Not Takin' No Calls Cause I'll Be Dancin'
These shoes might be from the Pierre Hardy SS10 collection, but all they do is remind me that party season is upon us in not too long. Bright colours, geometric details, see-through plastic, metallics and shoes with ... knee pads? That is certainly a new version of gladiator style, and it'll be interesting to see if it catches on.
My favourite of this batch is the blue cut-out boot below. It slightly reminds me of the YSL cage heels, and the colour alone is enough to make me salivate.

Extras
I've been up since 5:30 today, so I'm probably a bit incoherent right now, but my inner magpie feels like writing a post about shiny items. These are also from the Accessory report. Two quite different takes on a bracelet, and I love them both, but the Kokosalaki necklace is the real reason I'm posting these. Pretty!
I love pieces of jewelry that challenges my view of what I think something is supposed to look like. That cube bracelet can't possibly be practical (or even comfortable), but it's fun and unique (and really, really shiny).

Accessory Report Time
Hello. You all browse through the Accessory Report after every season, right? The Candy Pratts Price's Accessory Report for style.com? If you don't... you don't have to start right now, because I've collected the best of the best for you.
This is the Spring 2010 report, and it contains pictures of 478 brand new shoes, bags and pieces of jewelry. I've gone through them all a few times already, making wishlists and that's the ugliest bag I've ever seen-lists and of course my own best shoes-list. In no particular order, here are my favourites from the Spring 2010 selection:

Three
Three details I loved at the Alexander McQueen SS10 show:
1. The metallic bracelets and nails. Such gorgeous and fluid shapes.
2. The clutches. These are two completely different bags, and they are both futuristic in their own ways.
3. The textures. I can't imagine how long it took to create the above looks, or what methods were used in the process, but the results are absolutely fantastic.

Guitar Hero
At the Karl Lagerfeld SS10 show, models were decorated with brooches and pins featuring arrows, guitars, and Lagerfeld himself with a guitar. While I appreciated these recurring themes, there were other details I liked even more.
I always find something to obsess over at Lagerfeld's shows, like these gorgeous bracelets. They look like they were made of laser-cut patent leather. So pretty!
It's not often that I prefer the flats at a show over the heels, but these are some of the prettiest flats I've ever seen. Featuring the same laser-cuts as the bracelets, they manage to look both pretty and, I think, sexy.
The pattern continued on the finale looks; these dresses are embellished with siver filigree defining shoulders, necklines and waists. The effect slightly reminds me of the bracelets from Lagerfed's SS09 collection, which I still adore.
