Heads Up
Pretty much everybody loved the main SS 2010 Alexander McQueen campaign, but I'm thinking this might be even better than Raquel Zimmermann covered in snakes. I've never been particularily fond of skulls, but they are such a big part of the McQueen brand that using skulls for advertising eyewear feels completely natural. And awesome.

Luck and Intuition
Veeery quick post today. All I want to say is that Raquel Zimmerman is awesome. First piece of evidence:
Alexander McQueen SS10 campaign. Full of snakes. Sexy!
Second piece of evidence:
Raquel dancing to Lady Gaga, wearing Gareth Pugh, shot by Nick Knight.
That is all.

Flou
Flou: blurred, vague, soft, faint.
These ads for the spring 2010 collection of Belgian designer Bruno Pieters are both simplistic and futuristic, like the clothes he showed in Paris in October. The aestethic reminds me of recent campaigns by Jil Sander and Hussein Chalayan with its simplicity and etheral feel. Enjoy!

All I Really Want For Christmas
This is the Gucci SS 2010 campaign. Natasha Poly looks gorgeous. And the clothes are sexy. And the shoes are wonderful. (And everything looks a little like it's made of plastic, but that's not the point.)
Just look at that location.
I know I shouldn't complain about having a proper white Christmas for once, but I feel like I've got the frost under my skin right now. It's not just below zero, it's way below zero, and I wouldn't leave the house at all if I could get away with skipping the whole Christmas shopping ordeal. If some kind soul could just get me a ticket to someplace warm, I'd be beyond happy.

Circles
Have a look at what Naomi is wearing. There are leather gloves, leather panelling, draping, an exaggerated shoulder. It sure looks like quite a lot of the runway trends of today. The image below reminds me of recent Balmain, and the neckline of the last image gives me Jil Sander vibes, though all three images are from the fall/winter 1997 Atelier Versace campaign. Amazing how fashion repeats itself, non?

I Do Want One of Those!
Today I'm bringing out my inner child and posting Nifty Things I Found online. We all need a break from shoes and fashion some times, right?
First out:
If I were to start a collection of useless stuff, I think I'd get a salt & pepper shaker/mill collection. There are so many cool designs out there, like these, or perhaps I'm just very easily impressed when it comes to kitchen gadgets. Yeah, that's probably it...
Rubik's cubes? Ok, that's even cooler!
Clever advertising for a restaurant in Switzerland. The text on the fork says: Very, very fresh vegetarian food. Relevant and innovative; just the way I like it.
Back to nifty kitchen gadgets; the lego biscuit roller! Biscuits shaped as pieces of lego is sort of like ice cubes shaped as penguins; extremely cool, but not very useful. But the idea of using food colouring together with this roller makes my buy this!-muscle twitch.
I'll finish this post with something that's actually fashion related. I love the whole Hermès campaign this season, and the accessory ad is no exception. A brilliant way of showcasing the famous Hermes silk scarves!

Crazy Cat Lady
I absolutely adored last seasons Lanvin ads featuring the always gorgeous Iselin, but these are even better. I don't know if it is the mixture of great photography, clothes, modelling and footwear or simply the brilliant inclusion of two absolutely adorable black cats, but I know I love it.

Bad Prada
Being back from a holiday can be nice, but today the summer sun is hidden by heavy rain clouds, and looking at these Prada footwear ads does nothing to lighten my mood.
The first ad is nice enough. Sure, the ridiculous embellishments are reminding me strongly of turkeys, but the chunky heels and the height of the shoes save the look.
But then we get to the picture below, and I start to weep a little inside. Prada is very often responsible for starting fashion trends, and if these shoes indicate any coming trends... Call me a shoe snob, but didn't we suffer enough when kitten heels were all the rage?

Head in the Wrong Place
I'm on vacation at the moment, but the blog goes on, thanks to the wonders of scheduled posting.
While browsing my favourite fashion community, I came across this hilarious example of laziness. Above; a runway picture from the Donna Karan Fall 2009 show. Below; the Donna Karan Fall 2009 ad. Now, that's just awful. As somebody else mentioned; which model gets paid for this?

Construction

These images from the Hussein Chalayan fall 2009 campaign are some of the best ads I've seen in a while. Such a brilliant mixture of simple and complicated. It looks like the girls were photographed backstage before/after the runway show, and these shots are featured against what seems to be inspirational collages and early sketches of the clothes.

Oh Iselin

It's no secret that I'm a huge patriot when it comes to models. Watching a Norwegian girl doing something big feels great.
Iselin is probably the most successful Norwegian model ever, and even when she's on a break from modeling, she manages to nab huge campaigns. Last season it was Missoni and Mulberry, now it is the always wonderful Lanvin.

The full Lanvin SS09 campaign just surfaced, and it's one of the sexiest thing I've seen in a while (not counting the more provocative CK jeans ads...).

Iselin Steiro, Steven Meisel and lots of mirror makes a great combination. The clothes and styling looks great, the poses are superb, and the use of mirrors really works.
Is this the best campaign of the season?

Shadowplay
My blog hasn't been around for that long, but I'm certain if it had existed when the designers showed their spring/summer collections, I would've gushed about Jil Sander.

The fringe dresses looked gorgeous on the runway and even better in print, with some added movement. Now the first ads are appearing, and photographer Willy Vanderparre has taken a more minimalistic approach to showcasing the clothes.

Model Natasha Poly is working it in these haunting black and white profile shots. This is effective photography; eye-catching without being annoying, elegant yet simple. The jewelry shot is by far my favourite.

As cliché as it might sound; I just can't wait to see these in print!
