Careful: May Break

A few months ago I blogged about moving. Tomorrow I'll be moving again, back to my hometown. I've been living on my own for a while, and have worked with some awesome people, but I've missed the social network I was used to. It'll be lovely to get back and interact with more people, but I can see the blog getting less of my attention as a result.

Speaking of attention; this quirky necklace is more than shiny enough to catch my eye. Glass has been shaped to resemble a delicate cluster of bubbles. The piece is very reasonably priced, but unfortunately out of stock at the moment.

Black Suede Shoes

When it comes to introducing the world to great shoe brands, nobody does it better than the wonderful Susie Bubble. She's recently managed to get some pictures from the upcoming collection of Finsk shoes from designer Julia Lundsten, and I'm loving every piece.

Seriously. These wedges. I have no words! Well, hardly any words.

As much as I love the bright blue suede and the way it compliments the grey and white, I think I'd rather give up an arm (or at least something slightly more insignificant, like a kidney) to own the second pair. The golden tint of the wooden wedge is simply mesmerizing to look at for a shoe fan like myself, and you can't go wrong with black.

Also, a shoe brand with its own official stamp? A stamp picturing a pair of heels made partly of fish skin? It doesn't get any better than this!

Have a great weekend!

Eyes Like an Angel

Snejana Onopka for Vogue Russia, July 2009. Is this girl gorgeous, or what? If I could trade features with one model, I'd not hesitate to choose Snejana.

Shoes of Yesterday

What do the shoes above have in common? They are all gorgeous (obviously), they are all very easily recognizeable, and they're all on sale right now.

It feels like just yesterday when I first swooned over the Prada snakeskin heels on this blog, and I can't believe the Jil Sander pair has been around for long enough to go on sale. Time flies, and when it comes to fashion, time flies very fast. Sure, new collections with brand new silhouettes and shapes are great, but my list of favourite shoes is getting kind of full.

Actually, that's a big lie. My list of favourite shoes has infinite space. Keep'em coming!

In Search of Perfection

I think I am forever searching for the perfect dress; one that fits just right, won't look dated after a few months, comes in gorgeous and flattering colours and is both not too formal and not too casual. Bonus points if it is reasonably priced and exclusive enough that I won't risk ending up meeting somebody else wearing it. I adore the dress Lily Donaldson is wearing in this March 2006 editorial from Vogue US, and would love to own something similar.

Sexy party dresses are all over the stores right now, and that's great, but at the moment I need something prettier. I'll be attending a summer wedding in not too long, and so far I've only tried on one dress that I loved. The only problem was the colour; white dresses just don't work in a wedding that isn't yours.

Hopefully I'll have my perfect dress tomorrow; I've got the day off from work, and will be spending the whole day scouring the shops of Oslo in search of both the perfect dress and the perfect bikini. Wish me luck!

Pencil Poetry

Right now I am positively smitten with the works of Cédric Rivrain. This guy is a wonderful artist who draws some of my favourite models wearing gorgeous pieces of high fashion, while adding his own personal touch to his works; huge, intricate band-aids placed in the middle of the models' faces. The way he uses colour and the unfinished look of the drawings have made me a huge fan!

Comfort and Practicality

Not the kind of shoes you expect to see posted on this blog, you say? Nothing about them is heavy, and the heel isn't anything to write home about, but these are the shoes I wear almost every day. As boring as it gets, but I need some cushioned, lightweight and airy shoes for work.

Some days I wish I had a more normal job, sitting in a cubicle and wearing towering heels that wouldn't hurt my feet because I wouldn't be on my feet all day long. I guess for now I'll have to be satisfied with a job that pays the bills while keeping me thin, strong and active, and use this blog as an outlet when it comes to fashion.

Speaking of the blog; I'd like to use this post to congratulate myself. Somehow I've made it past the great milestone of 100 blog posts, and almost without noticing. I've been blogging regularely for a little more than 5 months now, which is quite a feat for a scatterbrained person such as myself. Now, let's see if I can keep up with regular posting during the busy sommer months ahead!

Little Yellow Bikini

I'm taking the easy way out with blogging today. My head hurts like crazy, and I desperately need some sleep, so I'll be lazy and post a few shots from one of my favourite recent editorials - I've even posted about it before.

Ali Stephens is still looking gorgeous on the beach, and I'm still searching for that perfect bikini to wear on my trip to Crete in less than a month.

Fatal Attraction

I could start this post with apologizing for the huge picture, but I wont; these shoes deserve to be seen! For once I can't decide which shoe I like better; they are all absolutely gorgeous. Not that it really matters, as they're a bit out of my league, but a girl needs to have her dreams.

Weekend Links Revisited

Today; a small collection of funny and bizarre things I've stumbled across lately.

Let's begin with a snack; designer cupcakes by two Swedish photographers, inspired by Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Betsey Johnson and Christian Louboutin:

Sheena Matheiken has decided to wear the same dress (or, rather, seven identical dresses, to make things a bit more sanitary) every single day for a whole year. While I think this is quite remarkable, I know it's something I'd never be able to pull off. I'd get bored within the first month! This sounds like a well planned project, though:
The dress is designed so it can be worn both ways, front and back, and also as an open tunic. It’s made from a durable, breathable cotton, good for New York summers and good for layering in cooler seasons.

And lastly; some designer fire extinguishers!

Explosions in the Sky

How wonderful and wonderfully simple is the Christopher Kane Resort collection? I've read some complaints that the shapes and silhouettes are too safe and boring for C.K, but this is resort after all.

I love the prints he chose and the shapes he chose to display the prints. Everything looks lightweight, perfectly tailored and very fresh. My only complaint is the styling of the model; I can't seem to get into the no-eyebrows trend.

My favourite was, predictably enough, the shoes, though I won't be seeing those on the rich and beautiful in the near future. From style.com:
Is there no limit to Kane's prodigious growth? Well, maybe. The wedges in these pictures aren't for sale. "We didn't have any shoes, so we cobbled them together ourselves with gaffer tape and whatnot in the studio," he admits. "But I liked it, sort of walking on clouds!"
Guh, but I want them!

Construction

These images from the Hussein Chalayan fall 2009 campaign are some of the best ads I've seen in a while. Such a brilliant mixture of simple and complicated. It looks like the girls were photographed backstage before/after the runway show, and these shots are featured against what seems to be inspirational collages and early sketches of the clothes.

Full campaign here.

Plastic Fantastic

I'd probably never wear these shoes even if somebody gave them to me, mostly because plastic + bare feet = sweat and blisters, but also because I'm not that comfortable with the look of clear plastic on shoes. I like the futuristic feel of these, though, and the heels of the pair below are really intriguing.

Arm Candy

I've basically gone from one black bag to the next all my life. Perhaps it's time to inject a little colour into my bag arsenal?

Neverending Story

Rachel Roy Resort 2010

Rachel Roy Resort 2010 isn't full of must-haves, though there are quite a few beautifully tailored pieces scattered across the collection (like the gorgeous dresses featuring cutouts at the back). My main reason for posting the looks above is the fact that the headpiece strongly reminded me of the Neverending Story and the Childlike Empress. After some picture-googling, I noticed that the original headpiece is quite a bit different, and I actually think I prefer the Rachel Roy one.

Resort 2010: Early Favourites

Calvin Klein Resort 2010

Is it really resort time already?

Time flies, but resort collections stay more or less the same. Everything is a bit toned down and less creative than the main collections, which is expected. I don't think I've yet come across a full resort collection where I've loved every look, but there are always a few gems to be found.

Though it's still early, I think Calvin Klein will turn out to be one of my favourites. The ridiculously sheer pants and skirts confuse me a bit, and most of the dresses are similarly risque, but they are certainly pleasing to the eye, and look really comfortable to wear.

Donna Karan Resort 2010

Much of the Donna Karan collection was a bit too safe and boring for my taste, but I love the two dresses above. The colour combinations are very much me, and I love the way the fabric is draped across the shoulders. From what I can see, the shoes look flawless as usual.

Yigal Azrouel Resort 2010 / Donna Karan Resort 2010

I don't care much for the full looks above, but the Yigal Azrouel jacket is worth mentioning, with its contrasting fabrics and colours. The scallop-edged Donna Karan top is simply divine.

Tiny Dancer

Love this picture. Siri Tollerød for Last Magazine, I think; I saved this quite a while ago.
