  7. Pardew: Newcastle transfer key to Colback call-up

    Colback made the bold switch from Wearside to St James' Park in June in after his Sunderland contract expired, ending a 15-year spell at a club he joined aged 10.
    The 24-year-old was handed his first international call-up on Thursday and Newcastle boss Pardew is in no doubt that the midfielder may have been overlooked by Roy Hodgson had he not shown the character turn his back on Sunderland to join their arch-rivals.
    "It's great for north-east football, because he did a lot of this [to earn his] call-up at Sunderland," Pardew said.
    "I think he's ticked a couple of boxes here, though, that are important for an England manager."

  8. McCarthy completes QPR switch

  10. Pay rise for Sevilla star Bacca

    The Colombia international signed a five-year contract upon joining the Rojiblancos from Club Brugge in the summer of 2013 for €7 million.
    Bacca, who represented his country at this summer's World Cup in Brazil, has not extended the length of his deal but he has negotiated a salary increase.
    "On Tuesday, Sevilla and Carlos Bacca signed an improved contract for the Colombian striker, which does not vary the buy-out clause of €30m or its duration, until June 2018."
    Bacca has scored 25 goals in 60 appearances in all competitions since arriving at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
