I Do Want One of Those!

Today I'm bringing out my inner child and posting Nifty Things I Found online. We all need a break from shoes and fashion some times, right?

First out:

If I were to start a collection of useless stuff, I think I'd get a salt & pepper shaker/mill collection. There are so many cool designs out there, like these, or perhaps I'm just very easily impressed when it comes to kitchen gadgets. Yeah, that's probably it...

Rubik's cubes? Ok, that's even cooler!

Clever advertising for a restaurant in Switzerland. The text on the fork says: Very, very fresh vegetarian food. Relevant and innovative; just the way I like it.

Back to nifty kitchen gadgets; the lego biscuit roller! Biscuits shaped as pieces of lego is sort of like ice cubes shaped as penguins; extremely cool, but not very useful. But the idea of using food colouring together with this roller makes my buy this!-muscle twitch.

I'll finish this post with something that's actually fashion related. I love the whole Hermès campaign this season, and the accessory ad is no exception. A brilliant way of showcasing the famous Hermes silk scarves!

The Future Is Now pt 2

I've already posted the thigh-high and knee-high boots, but the Raphael Young FW09 collection has more to offer. Much more.

Again, I'm thinking the black wedge with the cut-out is the best option, but these are all gorgeous. I think these would go very well with the shimmery Gucci fall collection, or perhaps with a superhero costume. Now, there's an idea for Halloween!

Blondie

Picture overload today. This editorial is from the September issue of Vogue Paris, featuring one of my favourite models, Raquel Zimmermann. Here she effortlessly portrays Debbie Harry of Blondie fame, and in some of the shots, the resemblance is quite eerie. I absolutely love the atmosphere and setting of this editorial.

Falling

One word; gorgeous!

I've been wearing a pair of silver leaf earrings for what feels like forever, and I still love them. But these earrings from Aurelie Bidermann? A whole different league. If I owned these beauties, I'd wear the silver feathers and the golden ginkgo biloba leaves with everything, and that emerald green would take any simple outfit to another level. So appropriate for fall, and way out of my price range. Sigh.

The Future is Now

Aren't these crazy beautiful? My love of geometry and architectural footwear knows no limits! My favourite is the thigh-high black boot in the middle. Such an innovative heel shape!

About Leggings, or A Tribute to the Queen

A year or two ago I wore tights constantly. Tights with skirts, tights with shorts, tights with dresses. I loved colourful tights, but never got much into patterned ones, even though I bought a few. Then leggings became popular, and all the shops started selling mostly leggings instead of tights. I never really liked leggings, so I started living in skinny jeans instead.

Leggings worn as pants became my number one clothing pet peeve; I thought they looked ridiculous, and everybody were wearing them. But after seeing new interpretations of leggings on the FW 09/10 catwalks, I've finally started to appreciate them. Leather leggings and wet look leggings were, for some reason, the first looks I started liking, and when panelled leggings started showing up, I knew I had to get in on the trend sooner or later.

One blog I've grown more and more fond of lately is Kingdom of Style. I especially appreciate Queen Michelle and her awesome style, and often find myself looking to her for inspiration when I'm bored with the way I dress. Queen Michelle wears lots of leggings, and happens to look really great while doing so. One particular piece of clothing I've been fascinated by is her Black Spartans; leggings from Black Milk Clothing.

So why am I rambling on and on about leggings today? Because I've become so into the Black Spartans that I just had to purchase a pair for myself. I can't wait to receive them and start layering up for fall!

Construction for the Feet

I've started school again this week, and have not been able to devote any time at all to the blog, but today I came across some pieces of really interesting and artistic shoes I wanted to post. I don't know whether these are intended for daily wear or pieces of art, but they're wonderful eye candy anyway.

Have a look at Imelda or Acriacao for more pictures and a video interview with designer Chau Har Lee.

Virtual Window Shopping

Today I dragged out my imaginary gold Visa and spent some fantasy money getting outfits from the "What's new" sections at Net-a-Porter and Browns. While I find this kind of virtual window shopping quite therapeutical, I can't help but wonder if perhaps it's just a way to make myself used to the idea of spending heaps of cash on clothes... Oh well.

Net-a-Porter: MiuMiu goat hair jacket / Helmut Lang print dress / Helmut Lang leather insert leggings
Fendi tote / Brian Atwood pumps / Balenciaga glasses / Bottega Veneta Ring

Browns: Gareth Pugh jacket / Balenciaga print dress / Jil Sander boots
Balenciaga wallet / Fannie Schiavoni necklace

I can't help but notice that both selections came out looking slightly similar, a bit of drama with lots of black, which is just what I'll continue to wear this fall. If I could have my pick of just one of these items, I would pounce upon the Jil Sander boots. They are all kinds of gorgeous.

Leather, studs and vodka? Have a great weekend!

Very Particular Leather

One must-have item for fall down, several more to go. The next items on my shopping list are tall leather boots and a striking leather jacket. This Nina Ricci jacket would be perfect, but is way out of my reach. A girl can dream, though.

(And, predictably enough, those extreme Nina Ricci heels have been featured in quite a bit of editorials already. I think I'm actually getting used to the silhouette. Here's a video of a "normal person" wearing them.)

Back to the Drawing Table

As I was doing a thorough cleaning of my closets yesterday, I came across some old watercolour pencils and felt the need to draw. I've never been particularily talented at drawing, but I do like to sit down and doodle a little every now and then. The question of what to draw was not hard at all, it had to be shoes.

Obviously, these are no masterpieces. They are also not particularily original, and I'm sure you recognize the silhouettes. But it was nice to feel a spark of creativity, and perhaps I'll start to pencil down something original one day.

You'll also have to excuse my camera. It is particularily moody at the moment, and is refusing to let me use any form of flash. Instead I get these strange shades of blue that I probably could remove with a bit of Photoshopping if I weren't so damn lazy.

Atacoma Part Two

After the disappointment of not getting the Acne Atacoma shoes in black and silver, I've been searching the internet for something similar. I've seriously considered getting a pair of the infamous Sam Edelman Balenciaga-copies that the Olsen twins have been seen wearing a lot off of eBay, but I haven't been 100% convinced they're what I'm looking for.

And then somebody at Acne must have read my mind, because these beauties popped up today. I'm now really glad I didn't get the chance to buy the black/silver ones, because I much prefer this colour combination. My pair is already on the way, and it's kind of scary how excited I am about a shoe purchase, but I'm seriously in love!

Owens Again?

If I had unlimited funding, and had to stick to one brand only this fall, I don't know which I'd chose, but this shot from the August issue of Vogue Paris makes a pretty strong argument for wearing all Rick Owens. Raw edges, interesting silhouettes, soft leather and lots of black are all winners in my book.

Atacoma

I'm quite frustrated at the moment. I finally found the perfect pair of wedges over at Rumi's blog, but they're sold out in black. And while the blue ones are gorgeous as well, blue suede is not an option when it comes to fall in Norway. Besides, there are only three pairs left in my size, and when I get home to get my credit card, I'm certain somebody will have bought them.

Weird how a missed chance to spend that much money can get my moods down by this much...

Crazy Cat Lady

I absolutely adored last seasons Lanvin ads featuring the always gorgeous Iselin, but these are even better. I don't know if it is the mixture of great photography, clothes, modelling and footwear or simply the brilliant inclusion of two absolutely adorable black cats, but I know I love it.

Red Devil

I came across this image on a blog not too long ago, but I can't quite remember where. All I know is that I love the raw feel of the sole against the bright red patent leather, and the shape, of course, is simply to die for.

Dressing Up

My internet connection is still very much unstable after that thunder storm, so I've hardly gotten anything done online besides scrolling through my Google Reader. And when I've gotten to the bottom of that list, I've magically been sucked into the universe of Looklet, a virtual paper doll site that is way too addicting.

(Click for details)

I'm having way too much fun trying out combinations I'd probably not dare in real life, and it looks surprisingly real. My new love is this coral skirt from Swedish designer Zetterberg. It's quite different from anything I own, and it goes really well with so many different looks.

Have you gotten hooked on Looklet yet? Show me your looks!
